It's a relief, honestly. I've heard there's trouble back there, but at least it's not the monster attack kind this time.

Where they sent us is actually nice, I hope we get to come back. I didn't know there was a fishing village out across the bay from Recolle, but there is, because here we are.

Yeah, it's not that bad at least. I don't know what might happen but it's better than that.

Saying it's nice makes it seem very suspicious. I didn't know that either, take pictures if you see anything interesting and have time for it?

Well, it likely helps that we have all been on our best behavior and have given the town no reason to show us a not-nice side.

Everything here is based on barter or trade, so we've had to do some work to pay off our night at the inn.

But, the new Retrospec employee, he said something really curious. That this town has been here the whole time, we just couldn't see it until now.

You realize that that doesn't really seem to matter, right?

Do you think it's got something to do with the fact that we keep remembering random things, and that we can so suddenly forget them? Or that it doesn't entirely have to do with it but is similar?

Yeah. There is some kind of a currency to supplement it, but it really makes more sense for a village that is mostly trading with itself. They get some supplies from nearby places, apparently. But they're far more interested in what people can do or how they can pull their own weight than just money. It's refreshing.

I feel like it? It feels similar? But I can't figure out what the connection is. However. This guy, Carlisle. He's offered to talk to people, he's definitely more open to communication. I won't have the time until this is all over, but he feels like a chance to get some questions answered.

That makes a lot of sense. That way, they can avoid inflation for the most part. Beyond the fact that bartering encourages more human interaction.

Really, there is someone who is open to talking about things? That is new, but definitely a chance you shouldn't miss.

Maybe that's why I think it's so nice here? People are just helping each other. We catch a couple of extra fish, and the guy in charge of the place we're staying will cook them up for us. Stuff like that. A lot of value is put on people doing work. It's simpler and it makes a kind of sense.

I know I'm going to talk to this guy. I have to figure out how to put it so I don't get angry like last time when you had to stop me from yelling at a teenager...

That sounds really nice. I'm a little jealous, I'd like to experience that sort of thing too. That sort of lifestyle seems a bit bohemian, these days.

Yes, that is something of a concern. Perhaps you should try to write down what you want to say first, so you have your thoughts sorted out.

If I'm right, we'll get to come back here. It's almost like they had to send somebody here, so that we would remember how to get here. I know that doesn't make sense, but it feels like now that we know where it is, we can go back and forth. I really hope I'm right, I'd love to show you this place.

There's not a nice way to ask "was it really necessary to take off my friend's arm?"

Considering everything, it doesn't sound all that crazy. If you're right we definitely need to go visit at some point.

No, there isn't. But you can at least try to control your temper.

I'm capable of it, I know. I just get angry when I think about what they've put you and a bunch of other people through. There's a chance that this person will be more sympathetic, though; he suggested that he was someone else who has been regaining memories of another life.

You don't have to worry about me though. Despite everything, I'm at least glad to have remembered some things. I never want to forget about Chieko.

That is interesting. IF that is so then he has experience of it and can understand what it's like. The others we have talked to or who talk to--at us, does not seem to understand at all.

I think it’s in the best friend’s handbook that I have to worry about you. But, I am glad that you’ve found some comfort in her memory now. I hope?

Maybe that’s all I’m looking for out of him. More than explanations, some understanding and sympathy. It can be more important to the question of why this is happening than some scientific explanation or stories about lost worlds.

Well. I suppose it might mention something along those lines. But I think that I have. I still want to hear her voice, so badly, and sometimes I get sad, but I do think that she was far too precious to me, it would be much more painful to forget. Or to discover that I have forgotten, if I forget and remember again.

Those stories and explanations would possibly be helpful, if we actually understood them better, but as it is then that is probably going to be better. Feel a little better. And maybe we can at least learn how far it might go.

It almost hurts to hear that, but it's a bittersweet pain. I get it, you'd much rather remember her, even if it hurts.

I don't

It's like I feel like I don't have the right to feel the same way about Gentiana. We didn't have much time together. It's not fair to try to wait for her to remember again, to push this one-sided affection. But I'd rather remember.

What would you want to know out of Carlisle? What might help you? I'm going to be way too focused on investigations and the whys that they might not give. So what else?

I would, yes. That is nothing that I doubt.

Why would it not be fair? It's still your emotions. They're not something that you can put on hold even if you try, they'll still be there. And while she might not remember, she's still here. That won't make things easier, I realize, but it's something that you should value.

Even if you ask... I don't know. Not everything can be answered by other people, anyway and I mostly wonder about things that I would have to learn by myself, at the moment. Isn't a focus on the investigations better? Don't bring too much emotion into it, Hitori.

It does hurt. But I think I've made up my mind on this. Finally. I've never been so indecisive in my life. If she needs a friend, I'll be there for her. But I won't seek her out, I won't look for something more.

Well, I'm asking about Carlisle because we are all in this together and I know what my priorities are. I know I can focus on what questions might further the investigation into them. But if there's a chance to get things answered? If it's fine for me to stick to what I'm good at, I will. Just don't want to ruin this for anybody else.
